A Refuge For The Oppressed

The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
— Psalm 9:9-10

Do you ever just want to hide somewhere? Just be safe for a little while without worry?

Praise God He is a refuge in times of trouble!

Shelter, security, safety, sanctuary.

The Lord is a higher place for us to go when our wisdom has run out, our energy is plummeting, and our troubles are overtaking us. But, check out that next part- "they that know thy name will put their trust in thee."

We have to know the Lord. We have to take the time to see who He is, to have experiences with Him and put our trust in Him. He promises that he doesn't forsake those that seek Him but seek Him we must.

The same God of Old who performed so many miracles for His people is still working today. Ready to uplift, to give wisdom, and to defend.

"The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee" Psalm 20:1

Make Him your refuge for in Him are you truly safe.

To Ponder:

Am I putting my trust in the Lord or letting anxieties overtake me?

Heavenly Father,

Be my refuge. Be my safety and my sanctuary. I need Your wisdom, Your peace, and Your love. Come into my heart and relieve my worry. Fill me with peace knowing that You have everything already figured out. Thank you for being my ever present help in trouble and the keeper of my heart and life.

Thank You, Father God. In Jesus name, amen.
