A Worthy Walk

That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God
— Colossians 1:10

As Paul prays over and instructs the church at Colosse, he gives advice that we can use today. Let's go back to verse 9,

"For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding" Colossians 10:9

We can pray to be filled with knowledge and wisdom and spiritual understanding. God can fill our lives with purpose and help us live that purpose out that we may be fruitful. The more knowledge we gain of God, the more we can see His might and goodness and trust in Him.

God's Word is an opportunity for us to gain more knowledge of Him and learn to live a life pleasing to Him. Knowledge is what we come to know and wisdom is what helps us apply the knowledge to our lives and live it.

As we learn of Him and walk closely with Him, others can begin to see good works in our lives. To God be the glory. If ever there was a time we need more wisdom for our lives, it's now.

To Ponder:

Am I reading God's Word as a "To-do" on my list or as an opportunity to know God more and walk worthy of Him?

I want to walk worthy of You. I want to gain the knowledge and spiritual understanding that I need and be filled with the wisdom to apply it and live it. Guide me with your Holy Spirit that my life will be a fruitful example of Your Glory.
