Covenant Of Peace

For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee.
— Isaiah 54:10

Covenant of peace. Covenant- contract, agreement, commitment, promise.

We have a commitment, a promise from God that no matter what happens- even if the mountains depart and hills are removed- His peace and kindness will not be removed from us. The Lord's mercy endures beyond.

Grace bestowed on us through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Sometimes we have moments with God where He seems very close. Other times we feel like there is a great distance between us. A ceiling blocking us from heaven above. It can come from guilt, a feeling of unworthiness, or just a time where we feel confused and God seems silent.

But God is still close even when we cannot feel it. His kindness and peace continue on.

2 Chronicles 16:9 tells us that the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to shew Himself strong on our behalf. We have to incline our hearts to Him and trust that he is there and accept His gift of peace. He does not break His covenant promises.

To Ponder:

Am I accepting my gift of peace from the Lord?

Prayer:

Lord,

Thank You for your peace and kindness for me. For showing Yourself strong on my behalf. Help me to uphold my end of the covenant by staying faithful to You. By inclining my heart towards You always that I may live with the peace that passeth all understanding. Thank You for Your goodness that endures forever.

Amen.
