Do You Need A Heart Transplant?

And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
— Ezekiel 11:19-20

Wow. A new heart and a new spirit.

If that is not renewal I do not know what is.

God is offering us a spiritual heart transplant.  One heart, not divided, and with it the ability to follow in His ways.

With the passing of time and trials of life, our hearts can grow colder. We no longer embrace life with arms wide open like little children full of excitement and enthusiasm. We become jaded.

What little children have, that we sometimes lose along the way, is faith.

That is how they can fall asleep any and everywhere and trust their parents to take care of their needs.

Do we trust God? Really?

Do we go to sleep trusting Him to keep us safe? Do we greet the day with fresh eyes as we look upon His creation? Do we wake up with gratitude and excitement in our hearts just to be alive?

If not, He is calling us to allow Him to create a new heart and a new spirit within us. To look at life again with wonder and hope. To know our Father God has everything under control.

To wake up and praise Him even if the sun is not shining, by faith, because we know it will again. God says, "But the very hairs of your head are all numbered." Luke 12:7

I do not know any earthly parent who knows that, no matter how much they love their child. But, our God does.

He is our Creator. He knows everything about us. He created our hearts and He can renew them.

To Ponder:

Have I lost my childlike faith? Do I trust my Heavenly Father to handle all the facets of my life? Am I in need of a heart transplant?

Father God,

Somewhere along the way, with the hurts and toils of life, I have lost my ability to recognize your workings around me. To see the beauty in You and the world you created. To love with a love that only You can give me- a love for You, for myself as Your creation, and for Your people. I need a heart transplant.

Give me a new heart, one like Yours, and refresh my spirit.

Thank you.
