Greater Works Than These

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
— John 14:12

Jesus who healed, fed thousands, and rose from the grave said that, because He is gone to the Father, His followers can do even greater things.

How the world would change if we truly believed that. How soon could the second coming of our Lord be?

Jesus left the Holy Spirit to be with us and give us power.

Jesus has given us access to come boldly before the throne of God and ask our needs and desires in pray.

"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:16

Jesus became our Savior and Mediator.

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" 1 Timothy 2:5

The Holy Spirit works to translate our prayers to the Father.

"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." Romans 8:26

The next time you are feeling defeated, remember what Jesus did for you and that you have access to the entire trinity of heaven and a host of angels through Him.

To Ponder:

Do I feel defeated before I even begin? Remember to Whom you belong. Greater than these.

Father God,

Thank You for sending Your only Son to live, die, and rise to restore our relationship so I may have access to Your throne. Thank You for Your love, power, and the gift of Your Holy Spirit. When I feel defeated, may I get down on my knees before You and then rise up like a mighty warrior knowing You are on my side.

In Jesus Holy name and through Him I live, Amen
