When Three Words Brought Immediate Peace

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
— Mark 4:39

In the midst of a great storm and Jesus became a man of few words, "Peace, be still."

Those three words is all it took to change the weather, to change the circumstance. Jesus didn't need to make an eloquent speech. He didn't even need to plead with His Father with a great prayer. He spoke with authority and the disciples marveled,

"What manner of man is this, that even the wind and sea obey him?" Mark 4:41

Are you experiencing a storm in your life? An area of unrest?

Jesus can speak peace into your heart. The maker of the sea and wind quieted them in an instant and He can do the same for us as His creation. In verse 40, Jesus asks His followers why they were so afraid. Our faith is often so small and weak, but even then Jesus has mercy upon us.

Learning to trust Him is a process. When our hearts are anxious, let us remember that we serve the Prince Of Peace.

To Ponder:

What storms in my life do I need Jesus to still?

Prayer:

Dear Jesus,

Forgive me for my little faith. For when I allow my heart and mind to become anxious and afraid. You are the Prince of Peace offering me peace. Come into my heart. Bring quiet, stillness, and wisdom. Thank You. Amen
