Integrity With God And Man

I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.
— Isaiah 46:11

The first part of this verse in Isaiah speaks of a "ravenous bird from the east." You can dive into the commentary on that here if you like, but the main point for us is that God keeps His Word. And, nothing is going to prevent Him from doing so.

God has integrity.

Integrity in our relationships is huge. We need to have integrity with God. He takes dishonesty with the Holy Spirit very seriously. Ananias and Sapphira anyone? Check out Acts chapter 5 if you have doubt.

We also are called to have integrity with each other and even ourselves. When was the last time you made a commitment to a goal or change that you wanted to make in your own life, told yourself you would, and broke that promise? That is lying to yourself. I'm sure we have all done it, but we need to be careful.

God is calling us to a higher purpose. To be honest in all our dealings.

Words are important, but it is our actions that really prove our faith. Beliefs are important, but only when they change our behavior for the better.

Integrity is defined as "being honest, moral uprightness." But, it is also defined, "the state of being whole and undivided." Hmm, that brings a scripture to mind,

"Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand" Matthew 12:25

A lack of integrity causes a lack of respect and division in our relationships, in our households, and branches out into our churches, communities, and the world.

As people of God, let us seek to be like Him by keeping our promises to the best of our ability, seeking for forgiveness if we cannot.

We serve a God of integrity.

To Ponder:

Am I being an example of integrity in my relationships? With God and myself? How can I improve?

Prayer:

Father God,

I am so thankful that Your Words are sure and true. That You always deal with me with integrity and honesty. Help me to take that as an example. To be honest with You for You already read my heart. To be honest in all my dealings with my fellow men and women and to have integrity with myself.

I seek forgiveness for my shortcomings in this area. Help me to make them right when needed.

Give me that set, undivided mind. To be trusted and rightfully so. To be a positive example of Your character. Help me weigh my promises carefully and to keep them.

Amen
