Is There A Fountain Of Youth?

And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
— 1 John 2:25

April 2nd, 1513 a crew led by Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de León became the first recorded Europeans to set eyes on Florida. The legend is that they discovered the "Sunshine State" while searching for the Fountain of Youth, which was said to be a magical water source capable of healing sicknesses and reversing the aging process.

According to the Smithsonian, this legend is not true but continues to be romanticized because who doesn't want to feel healthier and younger.

All these years later and the search for a fountain of youth continues. The media is plastered with advertisements for formulas, creams, and potions to look younger and live longer.

While we can certainly take care of our health and mental state to live our best lives, the truth is we are all terminal. Without Christ that is.

But, as 1 John tells, we can live forever.

Not through some "miraculous" superfood found in the Amazonian jungle or some high-tech scientific preservation device, but by simply accepting Christ as our Lord and Savoir and giving our lives over to Him.

Through Christ, we are promised new bodies and eternal life when He returns.

"For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." 2 Corinthians 5:1

A Fountain of Youth through Christ Jesus Our Lord.

To Ponder:

Have I accepted my gift of eternal life? Or am I still searching for a fountain of youth in this world?

Prayer:

Thank You, Father God that I do not need to search for a scientific miracle to live forever. That through Your Son Jesus I have been given eternal life. Restore me to Your likeness is my prayer in Jesus Holy Name Amen.
