Miracles In Waiting

For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.
— Mark 9:31

Even Jesus experienced a waiting period when he rested in the tomb over the Sabbath.

I heard a pastor say that there is a gap between the reveal and the release. God reveals what He will do in our lives, but there is a period before we experience it. That is where faith comes in. Holding onto the promise before we can see the performance of it.

In Luke 24:13-35 we see the disappointment experienced by many following Christ's crucifixion through Cleopas and his traveling companion on the road to Emmaus.

Jesus joins them on the journey but they are unaware Who is with them. So they begin telling Jesus about Jesus. Think about that. They tell Him about the hope they had and how that hope had been lost when Jesus hung on the cross. But, here is the thing... they didn't wait around long enough for Sunday morning to come and see the miracle that was to follow.

How often do we get discouraged and give up on God's promises in the in between? How often do we miss Jesus who is right there with us?

How our lives would change if we could learn to praise God for what's coming while we are waiting!

To Ponder:

Am I letting the enemy discourage me and cause me to doubt God while I wait? How can I praise God today for what is coming?

Prayer:

Father God,

While I am waiting I know You are working. Your care for me is beyond anything I could imagine and I know everything You do on my behalf is for my greatest good including my waiting periods. Thank You. Help me wait patiently before You.

"I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry." Psalm 40:1
