Morning Direction

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
— Psalm 5:3

Whether you are one who bounces out of bed at the crack of dawn or one who prefers to wake up a bit more slow there is something special about the morning time. God's gift of daily renewal and a new beginning.

The direction of our mornings sets the direction of our days and thus our lives. It's an important time.

King David understood the importance of mornings and starting his day looking up to God. He begins,

"Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation." verse 1

Beginning the day asking the King of kings to consider us. Not looking down upon our limitations or ahead to our worries, but UP. Directing our prayers to the only One who can change things. The only One who has looked into the future and knows what the day will hold.

To Ponder:

How can I rise and look up and lift my voice to God today?

Father God,

In the morning when I rise give me Jesus. The Sustainer of my day, the Sustainer of my life. My voice You will hear in the morning. Into Your more than capable hands, I commit this day.

Go with me. Show me what You would have me to do.

In Jesus' name amen.
