My Soul Waits

My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
— Psalm 62:5

Waiting is hard.

We spend much of our lives waiting. Waiting for growth, waiting for change, waiting for a new season.

When we wait before God, it is not in vain. It is soul transformation and miracle preparation.

Waiting patiently upon God requires a childlike trust and a spiritual intelligence. It may seem like hard work, but it's heart work.

We can wait with irritation or expectation. We can get frustrated and inhibit the great things God is planning on our behalf or we can trust Him knowing that He does not cause a wait without bringing forth something of great value. That value could be a character change in us or a long-awaited answer to our prayers.

If we would start looking at waiting upon God as a channel for blessings, and embrace it fully, things could transform beautifully and drastically before our very eyes.

David's very life was in danger and yet he trusted so in his Mighty God, that he was able to wait before Him in peace and expect Him to move in His life.

No matter our circumstances, that peace that passes all understanding could be ours, along with rest and joy, if we would train our souls to wait upon the God of The Universe.

Complete submission. Complete faith.

To Ponder:

Am I waiting upon God with trust and expectation or do I need an attitude adjustment?

Prayer:

Father God,

I can be impatient and anxious wanting things to happen on my time. But, I choose to wait in expectation upon You because I know in the waiting periods You are working on far better than I could imagine. I put my trust in You knowing that Your ways and timing are the best for me.

I know that You are transforming not only my circumstances but my character. May I always put my faith and hope in You. I come humbly before You. Fill my soul with patience and peace.

In Jesus' name amen.
