That Your Joy May Be Full

Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
— John 16:24

Have you ever felt like God doesn't want you to be joyful? Like something is wrong with wanting abundant life.

While there is a time for trials, growing pains, and to experience a contrite heart, the idea that God wants us to be miserable is a lie from the enemy. When Jesus came to earth, He left us with a gift. The gift of salvation, of course, but also the gift of the Holy Spirit and the ability to pray in His name.

John tells us that Jesus says we can ask and receive that our joy may be full. We may not get the answer that we want in the way we want it, but God answers and He answers above and beyond what we think we want and need.

"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us" Ephesians 3:20

We are a chosen generation and through Jesus, we can go before God's throne and ask that our joy may be full. What an honor and privilege we have through Jesus.

Let us be joyful and let us praise His Holy Name who has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light,

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light" 1 Peter 2:9

To Ponder:

Am I accepting my gift of Joy through Jesus?

Prayer:

Thank You, Jesus, for giving me the honor of praying in Your Name to the Father guided by Your Holy Spirit. What a gift You have bestowed upon Your followers. Help me to come to You with a contrite heart when needed, but to feel the Joy that Your salvation brings and to praise You always. For Your goodness endures through all.

Amen and Amen
