The Greatest Of These Is Love

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
— 1 Corinthians 13:13

Verse 12 of 1 Corinthians 13 tells us that we do not see clearly now but we will. When we get to our heavenly home, we will not need faith or hope. These are things we need now to look forward towards what is ahead, believing and waiting in anticipation. But, then we will be able to see clearly. We will be face to face with Whom we have believed.

So, hope and faith are temporary. But will be everlasting. God's love for us and our love for each other. Our love will be perfected.

Faith and hope are our salvation for they help us believe. But, the restored relationship, love, is the goal.

Love is the greatest for its endurance and also its importance. It unites God to us, us to God, and us to each other. It is the base from which we build.

Colossians 3:14,

"And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness."

Love heals, love restores, and love never fails.

To Ponder:

How can I grow in love?

Thank You Father God for Your unending everlasting love. Help me grow in love that it will be the base for all that I do. That it will flow out in streams of mercy and acts of kindness to all I encounter.

Show me Your love and teach me to love as You do.
