The Source That Is Higher

My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
— Psalm 49:3

People do not come with user manuals. However, we can ask their Creator for the wisdom and guidance we need in all our interactions.

In order for wisdom to come from our mouths, to give others the words of love and encouragement they need, we must first ask for it. We must pray for an understanding heart and wisdom to know how to interact with one another in a healthy and loving manner.

James 1:5 says,

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."

When someone comes to us for advice, encouragement, or simply a listening ear, we can say a prayer to be guided by the Holy Spirit with wisdom for our response. God's Word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit makes us wise in all our dealings. There is no better way to learn about life, ourselves, and others than to read the Manual from the One who created it all.

The next time someone comes to you with a soul in need, lead them to the One with all the wisdom. When our hearts are failing or the hearts of those around us, we all need the Rock that is higher.

"From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I." Psalm 61:2

To Ponder:

How may I gain more wisdom for all my relationships?

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, when I am in need of wisdom, remind me to look to You. Fill me with the wisdom I need in my relationships and all areas of my life and fill me with it liberally as you have promised in James.

Fill me with Your Holy Spirit that I may give an answer from You and Your Word when needed. That I will send others to the One Source from which all true answers flow, You and You alone.

May I speak wisdom out of my mouth and have an understanding heart by meditating on Your Word.

Amen
