What's Your Capacity?

And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.
— 2 Kings 4:6

Left a widow with two sons and a lot of debt, things were looking bleak. All she had was a pot of oil. Elisha told her to go borrow vessels from the neighbors and not a few.

As instructed, she borrowed vessels, shut out the rest of the world and begin to pour oil. God multiplied the oil until all the vessels were full. She was able to sell the oil, pay the debt, and save her family.

If she had collected even more vessels would there have been even more oil?

It was a miracle indeed and met her need. But, how often do we minimize what God could do because of our little faith and lack of space?

Could it be that God only pours out what we are able to receive?

We can ask the Holy Spirit to expand our capacity to believe and receive. Opening to the goodness our Heavenly Father is waiting to bestow upon us. May your vessels be many.

To Ponder:

Am I open to receive what God is waiting to give?

Father God,

I know that You can do great things, but need my cooperation through openness and obedience. Teach me to trust You and open to all You have for me. To shut out the doubt of the world. To be able to step out in faith, guided by Your Spirit, that I may be filled and pour out Your blessings to others.

Thank You, in Jesus' name.
