When Fear Comes

What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
— Psalm 56:3

The Word of God says "Do Not Be Afraid" 365 times, yet fear still comes to us sometimes. But, when fear comes, we have a choice. We can let it take over and become inhibited, depressed, and anxious or we can choose to trust the One who Created us.

Feelings come and go and often feel uncontrollable. That's ok, we are human. But, through Christ and the renewing of our minds, we can make a choice about the response that we will have to those feelings. We can choose to place our faith in God and His Word.

Fear has a tendency to blur our vision and keep us from seeing the greatness of our God. We cannot let it rule us.

When fear and anxiety strike, we have a battle to fight. Putting goes Word above the message of fear from the enemy.

Let us say with the Psalmist, what time I am afraid I choose to trust in Thee.

With God's help, we can trade our fear for peace.

To Ponder:

What choice am I making when I become anxious and fearful? Do I allow these feelings to stay too long or turn my trust to God?

Prayer:

Father God,

I choose to put my trust in You. Renew my mind with Your Word. That I may place my feelings under Your loving care. That I will look up to You and trust in You.

In Jesus' name amen.
