Worship From The Heart

He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
— Mark 7:6,7

Where God is elevated, miracles happen.

A powerful way to express our love and gratitude to God is through worship. Worship with our church families is wonderful, but God wants us to bring worship down to a personal level too. And He wants it to come from the heart.

Worship that is only on the lips is vain as Jesus stated there in Mark. It is the worship that pours from our hearts that Jesus wants. The worship that comes when we are overwhelmed by the glory and goodness of God.

We will only feel like exalting Him by paying attention and staying in the Word. When we start seeing glimpses of how great God really is, that is when our praise becomes deep, heart core praise.

When we really get to know God, we have reverence for Him and worship is a natural outpouring. If something in our lives is blocking our gratitude in a way that we do not feel like worshiping and honoring Him, we can pray for the Holy Spirit to be our helper. To change our hearts.

The God of heaven and earth deserves our worship and praise. We become like what we worship. Don't we want to become more like Our Creator?

Let's pour out our praise to Him today.

To Ponder:

How may I live in a state of worship to the Living God today?

Father God,

You are so deserving of my worship and praise. I am afraid my efforts fall short. I ask that You fill me with your Holy Spirit, that I will see You for who You really are. That praise will be forever on my lips as the psalmist said. May I live a life of worship to You.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

"I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth." Psalm 34:1
