You Complete Me

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power
— Colossians 2:10

A famous line in romantic movies, "You complete me."

But, Jesus is the only one who can really complete us. When we expect someone else to complete us, it can put a serious strain on the relationship. Your boyfriend or girlfriend cannot complete you. Your spouse cannot complete you. Neither your parents, your church family, or your best friend.

We were created to be in communication with our Creator and He is the only one who can fulfill that longing.

Asking someone else to is far too much of a burden for any human to bear.

Paul exhorts the brethren to be knit together in love. We need each other. Let's just remember that our relationship with our Creator is the only one that can complete us and fulfill us completely.

For He was before the beginning of all things,

"And he is before all things, and by him all things consist." Colossians 1:17

Let us appreciate each other and love each, but know that we are only complete in our perfect Savior. Two people, each with the wholeness of Christ, makes a much better union.

To Ponder:

Am I expecting another relationship in my life to fulfill something in me that only Jesus can?

Prayer:

Lord,

You complete me and in You alone am I complete. Please remind me of that when I am searching for fulfillment in another that they cannot provide. Thank You for your completeness. For filling up the holes in my heart. For healing me and sometimes allowing me to experience pain so that I see my need for You.

Fill me to complete wholeness.

Thank You. Amen
